THE GOOD; BAD AND UGLY OF DUKE, LIYEL AND AYADE

About fortnight now, I've been quite engulfed with miscellaneous rites patterning to the solemnization of holy matrimony between me and my heartthrob. The conjugal activities along its sundry obligations didn't accord me the space and chance to lend my voice to happenings in politics and... A lot had happened in my state, Cross River. Some of the happenings didn't come as things of surprise to me. Prominent on the front burner was the word-war between erstwhile governor of Cross River State,  Liyel Imoke and his predecessor, Donald Duke. Few days ago, while enjoying in the euphoria of honeymoon, I took a casual stroll through cyberspace; flipping through pages and glancing posts on few social media platforms to be abreast with the latest events. I stumbled upon Calitown publication where Mr. Donald Duke aired out his views about the rot and malfeasance in governance as it relates to Cross River State and his successor. It was a lethal uppercut at Imoke. As I read f...

STATEMENT BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE AND SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AT A WORLD PRESS CONFERENCE HELD AT THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY COMPLEX ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 8, 2018

The speech as obtained by Adoga Saint Blog, without blemishes. Read below as been itemized: 1. It is a matter of record that yesterday, lawmakers and staff of the National Assembly were prevented from entering the National Assembly Complex by heavily armed security agents of the Department of State Services (DSS). All entries to the Complex were blocked as early as 6.30 am. The National Assembly, the seat of democracy in Nigeria, was under lockdown. Senators and Members of the House of Representatives were prevented from gaining access. 2. The ensuring standoff was a show of shame that played itself out over several hours in full view of the country. In no circumstances should this have happened. And we as a nation reaped the bitter fruits instantaneously, as evident in media images relayed around the world, images that shame us as a democratic nation. The siege was also an act of cowardice by those seeking to carry out an illegal impeachment of the leadership of the Senate...

NIGERIAN OPPOSITION VICTIMS OF NAIVETY,GREED AND BETRAYAL.

By Egbara Emmanuel Ikaba Nigeria has failed to progress from the illusion of independence to the reality of freedom because of betrayal; firstly by the then corruption power politics, and lately by the naive and treacherous former opposition. This is the tragedy of our political development. Independence was cheaper but freedom will be much more expensive as it is now. The fight for independence had clear targets but now the targets for purposeful governance are hidden in the corrupt and treacherous black hearts of APC led government. In APC as a political party one only remained a hero as long as they pay homage to Buhari. This was the critical test. Those that remained for long accepted money for their loyalty and pledged never to question Buhari’s dictatorship. They were as prosperous as the effort they put in suppressing the people. Those that changed their minds were quickly silenced. Those that supported Buhari lasted longer. For someone to claim they were not...

BUHARI/IDIAGBON LED MILITARY JUNTA: A CASE STUDY OF DR. SAM MBAKWE LEADERSHIP LEGACY

~Ogar, Emmanuel Oko Against the many lies given by the barrack's boys for expelling the second republic political leaders under the superintendent of Alhaji Shehu Shagari of being corrupt; the whole water from River Niger cannot watch them clean of the evil dirt they brought on us as a nation. Some governors in that dispensation were clever. They were innovative and visionary in their leadership approach. They understood the essence of governance. They knew that good name was better than riches. Though, some were corrupt. Others weren't. My few months of sojourning in Imo state, I've been interacting with people and visiting places to be informed socially and politically. Those I mingled with, were actively involved in politics then. One erstwhile governor that his names rings like Monday bell is Dr. Sam Mbakwe. Mbakwe was a great man of extraordinary prudence. A native of Obowo LGA and by extension, my in-law. In less than four years, available record shows that...

YOUNG PROGRESSIVE PARTY: WOMEN AND BEIJING DECLARATION

The noble place occupies by womenfolks in the society is inestimably indispensable. This specific place ranges from being a mother, wife and the host of others. The old adage of , 'behind every successful man; there's a supporting (supportive) woman', is playing out in most facets of our endeavors. We have seen great men having sterling performance in leadership sphere because they had(have) strong and dependable women behind them. For example, Winnie Mandela. The late Madiba's wife. The FIFA world cup has come and gone but the world is still warmth by some titillating sparks from few participants. All the Russian cultural razzmatazz and technological razzle-dazzle galore had since been blown away at the end of the mundial. However, one special aspect of the round leather game was the resonating humility, youthful exuberance, agility and the show of love devoid of racial prejudices by the prettiest Croatian President, Kolinda Kita...
